Runners warm up for Bobcat Back 40

Local cross country teams will compete in this weekend’s Bobcat Back 40 hosted by Berryville High School at the Carroll County Fairgrounds.

The local runners participated in the Panther Cross Country Classic on Saturday, Sept. 16, in Siloam Springs.

Berryville’s Bella Knapp finished eighth among high school girls with a time of 22:43.01. She was followed by Astralia Amos (15th, 23:36.50), Maranatha Ross (22nd, 24:21.40), Carly Smith (31st, 25:35.92) and Sophee Bartos (49th, 31:19.19(.

Among high school boys, Berryville’s Malachi Houghton was 25th in 18:46.97. Also competing for the Bobcats were Noah Houghton (44th, 19:52.52), Asher Ross (49th, 20:29.60), Aden Burnett (63rd, 21:25.16), Gabriel Wall (72nd, 22:08.21), Nathan Ross (75th, 22:15.72) and Lane Carman (97th, 23:55.01).

Green Forest’s Arauny Reyes finished sixth in the high school boys race, covering 5,000 meters in 17:16.03. He was followed by teammates Joseph Duenas (22nd, 18:29.63), Erbin Mendoza (45th, 20:01.37) and Alex Lemus (70th, 22:03.47).

Kayla Lozano was 13th in the girls race with a time of 23:26. She was followed by teammates Lisbet Rosales (27th, 25:07.22) and Haddasah Reyes (51st, 31:50.39).

Eureka Springs’ Roman Schuber was 90th in the boys race (23:19.31). He was followed by teammates Billy Martines (101st, 25:02.81) and Ethan Pierce (114th, 28:57.41).

For the Lady Highlanders, Anna Vaverka finished 40th (27:48.92).
