The Rotary Club of Berryville, representing almost 100 years of service to this community with the motto “Service Above Self,” announced Wednesday, Dec. 7, that it will be contributing $10,000 toward the Berryville Library Building Project.
Rotarians were on hand at a recent Rotary meeting to present a ceremonial check to Berryville Library officials and the Friends of the Berryville Library.
One of the club’s main fundraisers is the annual Princess Ball, which was held Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Berryville Community Center. Thanks to the hard work and vision of many Rotarians, the Community Center’s banquet hall was transformed into a magical, snowy winter wonderland that provided a perfect royal setting. The evening was filled with lots of girls, boys and parents dancing under the stars while enjoying homemade dreamy treats.
Event organizers said this was the most successful event yet and the proceeds from this event are being donated to the Berryville Library Building Project.
The Rotary Club began discussing how to best use proceeds from the Princess Ball and the Library Building Project was chosen because of the lasting impact the facility will have on the community.
“Rotary continuously looks for ways to support our community in ways that will touch the lives of many people and we couldn’t think of a better project to support than the Berryville Library, which serves our entire community,” Berryville Rotary Club President Cody Qualls said. “We are honored to make this donation and challenge other service organizations and individuals to contribute as well.”
“We are so appreciative of the Berryville Rotary Club for this generous donation to the Building Fund,” said Tyler Squires, fundraising chairman for the library building project. “They have been so supportive of the library with other summer projects in the past and this latest donation to our building fund is significant.”
The $10,000 level will earn the Berryville Rotary Club the right to depict the club’s rich heritage and preserve their legacy in the community for generations to come by placing its name and a picture or collection of pictures on one end of a shelving unit in the new library’s Central Atrium.
The Friends of the Berryville Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and all donations made to the Building Fund are tax-deductible.
