McMullenRobert “Robbie” Edmund McMullen, 61, died unexpectedly November 16, 2024, in Berryville, Arkansas. Robert is survived by his wife, Heidi Leinenweber Mc-Mullen, and his only child, Spencer Robert-Michael McMullen. He is predeceased by his mother, Judy Johnson; father, Kenny McMullen; and step-mother, Joyce McMullen.
Robert was an incredible artist that drew from the time he could hold a pencil. He graduated from the Art Institute of Houston, then moved to Jacksonville, Florida. In Jacksonville he then met his wife, Heidi, of 34 years. They married in 1991 and their son, Spencer, was born in 1999.
Robert’s art was colorful, bright and brilliant. He was known for his cartoon style of illustration. He could draw hands like no other. Back in the day he could meet any deadline by staying up all night to deliver by the early morning. Although Robert didn’t create much in his later years, this enabled him to spend some precious time caring for his father until his death in 2023. He traveled back and forth from his home in Florida to Arkansas. Robert embraced this time with his father as they enjoyed the birds, squirrels, mountains, and television shows from the 1970s. Heidi and Spencer have some peace in that he passed away on his father’s birthday.
Robert was able to see his son, Spencer, take off in an artistic direction. This made Robert so proud. They spent hours talking and comparing and sharing stories. Not to mention all of the thousands of hours they drew together.
If you knew the Mc-Mullen family, you would understand the love and laughter that united them. The dynamic trio is now a dynamic duo. Our sweet, kindhearted, artist and musician, family member and friend will be missed more than words can convey. May Robert rest in peace and continue to love, draw, and perform for all of the angels and loved ones that have passed. We also hope, while we are at it, that he is able to meet A.A. Milne, Al Hirschfeld, Groucho Marx, Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, and Adam West.
