Boston Mountain Rural Health Center officially opened its third clinic in Carroll County on Friday, Sept. 6.
BMRHC held an open house at its new facility at 1008 W. Trimble Ave. in Berryville, in the same building as Economy Drug, and the Berryville Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the new business.
Boston Mountain CEO Debbie Ackerson said the clinic aims to serve the local community, particularly those who have difficulty accessing healthcare because of factors like transportation barriers. The clinic offers a sliding scale for patient fees, allowing those with lower incomes to receive care for as little as $10. It accepts Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance, and also provides transportation services to help patients get to the clinic.
Boston Mountain also has clinics in Eureka Springs and Green Forest.
“The reason we came into Berryville is that there is a population in Berryville that do not receive health care, even though we have two other clinics in Berryville,” Ackerson said.
The clinic has a nurse practitioner, Victoria Jones, who has experience working in rural areas, as well as two bilingual staff members.
“I think she’s going to be a perfect fit here,” Ackerson said of Jones.
In addition to primary care, the clinic also offers behavioral health services through a telehealth setup, allowing patients to confidentially access providers at other clinic locations.
“This has been really successful at our other clinics,” Ackerson said. “It is utilized a lot because there are so many mental health needs.”
The clinic also has plans to expand its services, including adding an X-ray machine and a lab, as well as dental and optometry services at other locations.
“We’re trying to take a holistic approach to the patient and treat them for all their needs,” Ackerson said. “And so we just try to offer everything the patient could need.”
