Raffle to benefit library building project

Posted

The Friends of the Berryville Library have announced their upcoming “Fun, Frills, and Fanatics Fall Raffle,” featuring chances to win cash prizes, a handmade quilt, or an Arkansas Razorbacks gift basket.

The seven winners of the raffle will be drawn at 3 p.m. Dec. 9.

Thanks to a $1,000 donation by Midwest Equipment Rental and Sales located in Green Forest, five $200 cash prizes will be raffled off this year.

Allen Rogers and Paul Engskov have donated a gift basket that includes tickets for two to a Razorbacks basketball and baseball game this season, as well as several pieces of 1994 Razorbacks memorabilia. In addition to some Razorbacks decor and accessories donated by local businesses, the baskets will include an official 1994 basketball national championship baseball cap, license plate, stuffed Razorback, and a copy of the book 40 Minutes of Hell by author Ernie Wood.

The final raffle prize will be a handmade quilt made by Sue Hammer. Titled “Dancing Girls,” the quilt creatively repurposes 18 ladies’ handkerchiefs as skirts for 18 dancing girls. Measuring approximately 54 inches wide and 72 inches long, the quilt could fit on a twin or standard full bed or be used as a wall hanging.

All raffle items will be available to view at the Friends of the Library booth during Pioneer Days, Sept. 23-24. Tickets will be on sale from Sept. 23 through Dec. 9 from the Friends of the Berryville Library or at the library, located at 104 Spring St.

Those purchasing raffle tickets don’t need to be present to win. Tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20 with all proceeds going to the Friends of the Berryville Library.

“This year’s raffle may be the best one yet with seven chances to win,” said Calvin Cleaver, president of Friends of the Berryville Library. “We appreciate the donors who have made these prizes possible.

“Please support the Berryville Library by purchasing or helping us sell raffle tickets. All proceeds of this raffle help us support the Berryville Library Building Project and our goal of building a new library for Berryville by 2025 or before.”

Businesses or Friends of Berryville Library members who wish to help sell raffle tickets can call Kristy Noble- Tesch at 870-654-6565 to make arrangements.
