The 2024 Pioneer Days Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21, in Berryville’s Pioneer Park.
The event, presented by the Carroll County Historical and Genealogical Society, returned in 2021 after a two-decade hiatus.
“It’s really grown from the first year,” said Star Lee, president of the historical society. “It’s really taken off. I think people are really excited to see this type of family fun and getting back to the roots.”
Pioneer Days offers visitors a chance to step back in time experience daily life as it existed for the first pioneers in the county.
Among the activities on the schedule for this year’s events are live music, vendors and crafts, history demonstrations, pony rides, a petting zoo and food and games.
There also will be a pie-baking contest.
Lee said seven classes of students from Berryville will attend on Friday, with students from Eureka Springs coming as well.
“They come in and do our Pledge of Allegiance, and they sing a couple of the older songs that all of us learned when we were kids,” Lee said. “They really enjoy it.”
This year’s pie contest is sponsored by Rockin’ W Excavation, which will have youth and adult divisions with cash prizes awarded.
“That encourages the younger generation to cook with Grandma, cook with Mom and try for a pie contest,” Lee said.
All the pies will be donated to the Historical Society and sold as a fundraiser. In addition, Hiland Dairy is donating ice cream to be served with the pie.
For sponsorship opportunities, contact Lee at 870-654-9615. For vendor booth information, call the Carroll County Heritage Museum office at 870-423-6312.
