Phyllis was born Feb. 15, 1941 to Charles and Ota Hobbs Stanphill in Metalton, Ark. She attended Berryville High School and married Jack Rowlett. They lived in Wichita, Kan. for a short time, but returned to Berryville where they had two children, David and Lisa. She passed away May 5, 2022 in Rogers at the age of 81.
Phyllis worked at Glick Manufacturing for a number of years. Later she married Bill Sooter and was co-owner of Sooter Chrysler Center in Berryville. After that venture of many years, they moved to California for a short time. Later she and Bill moved to Fort Smith where she was the manager of Woodcrest Park Apartments. She married Lloyd Merriman in 2016 and together they managed Pickers Flea Market in Gassville, Ark. Phyllis enjoyed people and never met a stranger, so the variety of jobs she had were perfect for her to interact and bless people.
Phyllis was a bright light everywhere she went, always a smile on her face. She loved to sing, and she always dressed beautifully. Her enjoyment of plants and flowers was evident by her yard. She was a caregiver for many years and that was always done with a smile!
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Darvel Stanphill. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Merriman of Berryville; a brother, Jimmy (Dewitt) Stanphill of El Dorado, Kan.; two children, David Rowlett of Berryville and Lisa Rowlett Carlson and husband Joel of Witter, Ark.
