Pea Ridge beats Green Forest in Turkey Slam tournament

Pea Ridge outscored Green Forest 21-5 in the second quarter and went on to beat the Tigers 67-50 on Monday, Nov. 21, in the Turkey Slam tournament at Lincoln High School.

Pea Ridge led just 14-10 at the end of the second quarter before its second-quarter outburst gave the Blackhawks a 35-15 halftime advantage.

Pea Ridge extended its lead to 56-30 by the end of the third quarter.

Senior guard Ali Cabrera made four three-pointers and led Green Forest (2-2) with 16 points.

Senior guard Tony Gonzalez added 12 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for the Tigers.

In girls action, Pea Ridge defeated Green Forest 71-32.

Both Green Forest teams were in action Monday night at the Bev Stone Memorial Border Classic at Omaha.

The Green Forest boys took on Blue Eye in the first game of the tournament, while the Lady Tigers faced Lead Hill in a first-round game.

Green Forest’s boys will play at Berryville on Tuesday.

Second-round games in the Omaha tournament are scheduled Wednesday and Thursday.
