Oris Ray Scarborough

Oris Ray Scarborough, a beloved and respected figure in his community, passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 20, 2023, in Green Forest, Arkansas. Born on March 26, 1938, in Rudd, Arkansas, Oris lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure, leaving a legacy of kindness and resilience.

Oris was a man of many interests and talents. He had a lifelong passion for hunting, which he often combined with his love for the outdoors. His hunting trips were not just about the thrill of the chase, but also about the serenity he found in nature. He was also an enthusiastic participant at car shows, where he exhibited a profound appreciation for classic cars. Oris was often found behind a grill, barbequing for family and friends, and his Swiss sausage and sweet breads were a family favorite. His love for water sports, especially boating and water skiing, was evident in the countless summers he spent at the lake with his family. Whether cutting wood or camping, he was always happiest outdoors.

Oris was a loving husband to Carol, his wife of 64 years. He was a proud father to his son, Oris, and his daughters, Cynthia, Robyn, and Stephanie. His sister, Anna Gochenauer, shared a special bond with him. Oris’s love extended to his grandchildren - Shannon, Wesley, Joshua, Sean, Nathan, Cody, Sherie, Aaron, Zachary, Aubree, Blake - and his 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was also a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Oris was preceded in death by his parents, Zettie Bessie and John Arthur Scarborough; four brothers, Fred, Raymond and George Carroll, and two sisters, Charlotte and Azilee and one grandson, Austin Giudici. With his friendly demeanor and thoughtful nature, Oris was a friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
