The Green Forest Lady Tigers were two outs away from beating Berryville in a matchup of county rivals on Thursday, April 20. But two outs were two too many for Green Forest.
Berryville freshman Ivie Bickel slapped an RBI single to drive in teammate Emma Hall with the tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning and Mallory Whitson scored the winning run on an error as the Lady Bobcats rallied for a 10-9 victory over the Lady Tigers.
Bickel and classmate Cara Summers — the bottom two hitters in Berryville’s lineup — drove in three runs apiece for the Lady Bobcats, who scored four times in the bottom of the ninth after Green Forest put up three runs in the top of the inning for a 9-6 lead.
Berryville took advantage of six Green Forest errors, including two in the ninth.
The Lady Bobcats led 6-3 after five innings, but Green Forest scored once in the top of the sixth and twice in the seventh to force extra innings. After a scoreless eighth, the Lady Tigers scored one run on a bases-loaded walk and two more on passed balls in the top of the ninth.
Tamika Ramirez had two of Green Forest’s five hits while Lyndsey Snow drove in two runs for the Lady Tigers.
Emma Hall scored three runs for Berryville. Bailey Skelton was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bobcats, striking out nine batters in a complete-game performance.
