Join the Berryville Library in celebrating Library Giving Day! This one-day fundraising event will occur on Tuesday, April 4, and encourages patrons and library lovers across the country to make a gift in support of their local library. Donations to the Berryville Library can be made online at berryvillelibrary. org/building. Gifts also can be dropped off or mailed to the library. All gifts received for Library Giving Day this year will be used to support the Berryville Library Building Project.
Started in 2019, Library Giving Day is a concept dedicated to growing philanthropic support for libraries across the nation as part of Library Awareness Week.
It has been proved that libraries that embrace fundraising have the potential to create a powerful public/private partnership that has lasting impact and untold benefits for their local community. Public libraries strengthen communities and transform lives every day. In addition to well-loved books, many libraries offer innovative programs that promote lifelong learning, connect patrons to technology, and advance knowledge. The Berryville Library, open seven days a week, is no exception. Hosting more than 75,000 visitors a year and offering more than 500 programs targeted to all ages, the Berryville Library provides well over an estimated $1,000,000 worth of free services and materials to the citizens of Berryville and surrounding area each year. And the library is just a family- friendly, fun place to be where everyone is welcome. There is something to do for everyone, ages 1 to 101!
The Friends of the Berryville Library and the Berryville Library Advisory Board have joined forces to spearhead the drive to build a new 10,000-squarefoot library for Berryville by 2025. To date, more than $2.4 million has been raised for the Berryville Library Building Project. This is almost 70 percent of the $3.5 million goal. Since library tax money cannot be used for building a new facility, the remaining $1.1 million needed for the project must be raised privately.
Help celebrate Library Giving Day by making a tax-deductible donation to the Berryville Library Building Project anytime between now and April 4. Checks can be made payable to the Friends of the Berryville Library, Inc. and mailed to or dropped by 104 Spring St. in Berryville. If you are interested in becoming a Friend of the Berryville Library, call 870-423-2323. Membership starts at only $10 a year for an individual.
