The Berryville High School Band has had a tremendous marching season so far.

The band attended contests at Charleston High School, Heritage High School, Berryville High School and Rogers High School, earning superior ratings at each event.

The band has been awarded outstanding color guard as well as receiving top honors for general effect and percussion. The band is led on the field by senior drum major Faith McKinney. Recently they attended the ASBOA Region 6 Marching band assessment in Rogers and that superior rating punched their ticket to the State Marching contest to be held Monday, Nov. 4, at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

This is the fifth consecutive year the BHS band has qualified for State.

“This is our standardized test,” band director Doug Blevins said. “Each year the students work hard to learn their music and their steps. Like the football team, the band begins its preparation in the summer and they put in long, hard hours learning their routine in addition to entertaining the crowd at football games and parades. Our students are being evaluated by some of the best educators in music education and have been awarded the top honors. We are so proud of the band students in Berryville.”
