The Saunders Memorial Museum is the recipient of grant monies through the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism in the amount of $2,500 as sustainability funds for utility costs.
This program is funded by the one-eighthcent conservation tax. The Small Museum Grant Program aims to increase the ability of community-based small museums and organizations to research, preserve, present and conserve Arkansas history.
Saunders Museum, which opened in 1956, brought to fruition the dream sparked in a young lad, Charles Burton Saunders. His boundless curiosity and collector instincts resulted in a vast collection, especially of guns. The items he so passionately loved stand as a testament of one man’s legacy to share a treasured collection of artifacts of a bygone era.
Saunders Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to come by and enjoy the vast collection of items.
