The Carroll County Search and Rescue Team recovered the body of a missing Alpena man from a swollen creek on Wednesday, Nov. 6, according to a statement by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the statement on the Boone County Sheriff’s Office website, the sheriff’s office was notified Nov. 6 of a missing person identified as 47-yearold Jacob Wayne Stephens of Alpena.
“Information reported was that Stephens was believed to have left his home on Tuesday afternoon, traveling back roads on a four wheeler towards Alpena,” the statement says. “Stephens’ four wheeler was discovered overturned in a swollen creek near a low water slab located near the intersection of Terrapin Creek Road and Carroll County Road 917.”
Stephens was found deceased approximately 1,500 yards downstream by the Carroll County Search and Rescue team, the statement says.
“At this time the death appears accidental however the body will be submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for confirmation as to the cause of death,” the statement says.
