TharpMicheal (Mike) Lee Tharp of Berryville, Arkansas was born January 24, 1950, in Kirksville, Missouri to Robert and Marilea (Miller) Tharp. Mike passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the age of 74.
Mike loved spending time with his family, enjoyed visiting with friends, and would spend hours each day praying. He was very social and enjoyed calling family and friends daily, he was an avid reader who always had a list of future books he’d like to read, he loved listening to oldies music, and reminiscing about growing up in Shawnee, Kansas. Mike worked at Inn of the Ozarks over 30 years. He was a cook at Myrtie Mae’s the majority of that time and his work ethic was an inspiration to his children.
On May 8, 1975, he married Myrtle Maye Evans Tharp, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by his children, Thomas Tharp, Andrew Tharp (Christal), Mary-Esther Bizzell (Jonathan), and Rebekah Stoppel (Robert). Grandchildren, Troy Tharp, Zeppelin Tharp, Isaiah Bizzell, Alyssa Reed, Roy Chapin, and Zoey Chapin. Brother, Bruce Tharp (Cathy); sister, Debbie Wheeler, as well as other family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marilea Tharp.
A Mass will be held at St. Anne’s on Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. Memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Berryville Public Library, 104 Spring Street, Berryville, AR 72616. Arrangements under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
