The Berryville Police Department’s new home is almost move-in ready.
Mayor Tim McKinney told the Berryville City Council at its regular meeting Tuesday, Aug. 1, that remodeling on the former Entergy building at 613 S. Main St. is almost complete. Once the work is finished, the police department will move into the building.
“We’re down to just a little bit here and there,” McKinney said. “They were working on the air conditioning today. We decided to go ahead and replace that while we’re doing it. We’re thinking in the next 30 days, they’ll be in there. It’s looking really good. We may not have the get all the parking lot paving and everything done before they move in.”
The city purchased the 5,832-squarefoot building, which sits on a 2.137-acre tract of land, for $429,500 late in 2022. McKinney said at the time that the police department would move into the former Entergy building, with plans to move the city water department from city hall to the current police building.
McKinney told the council that the city also has started renovations on the space at 207 Eureka St., formerly the home of the Good Shepherd Humane Society’s Berryville thrift store.
“It’s going to give us some much-needed space, I think,” McKinney said.
The council also approved a request for a permit for the annual Carroll County Fair Parade, to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, and a request from the Carroll County Country Chicks Extension Homemaker Club to place banners on fencing at the Berryville Public Square to advertise its annual Christmas Gifts Galore event, to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Carroll County Fairgrounds.
The Berryville City Council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at city hall.
