Mary Margaret Wallace

Mary Margaret Wallace, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and community leader, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023, in Berryville. Born on September 18, 1936, in the verdant landscapes of Ames Plantation, Tennessee, Margaret was a beacon of love, kindness, and intelligence throughout her remarkable life.

Margaret was the cherished daughter of Henry and Mary Lois (Stroupe) Jones. She carried their values of hard work, compassion, and commitment to community throughout her life, becoming an inspiration for those around her. Margaret was the loved and loving wife of the late Oliver Wallace, M.D., whose companionship and mutual respect formed the cornerstone of their harmonious life together.

Margaret is survived by her devoted daughters, Katherine Palmer and her husband, Miles, and D’jini Wallace; her caring son, Christopher Wallace and his wife, Connie. She was the grandmother of Oliver Palmer, Steven Palmer, Mary Wallace, and Jacob Wallace; the great-grandmother of Colton Wallace and Cheyanne Coffelt; and sister to her brother, Henry “Bubba” Jones. She is reunited with her parents; grandson, Alexander Palmer and brothers, Bobby and Jimmy Jones. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Margaret was known for her striking intellect, her nurturing spirit, and her unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her professional and personal life were interwoven with service and care for others. As a master gardener, she had a profound understanding and appreciation of nature, often sharing her knowledge and passion with those around her. Her gardens were a testament to her patience, creativity, and love of life. Beyond her love for gardening, Margaret was a gifted choir director, leading with grace and fostering a sense of harmony among her singers. Her love for music was infectious, and she used it to bring joy and solace to many. Margaret’s commitment to her community was further exemplified by her service on the Green Forest Library Board, where she worked tirelessly to ensure access to knowledge and learning resources for all.

In losing Mary Margaret Wallace, we have lost a beacon of light and love. Yet, her spirit remains with us, reminding us of the beauty of a life well-lived, full of love, kindness, and service to others. As we remember Margaret, we celebrate her life and the profound impact she had on us all. We will forever cherish her memory and strive to uphold the values she held so dear.
