Mary Lou Martin

Mary Lou Martin, age 89, of Cottage Grove, MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 15, 2023, at Presbyterian Homes Norris Square.

Mary Lou, daughter of Robert and Lula Brown, was born on April 7, 1934, in Warsaw, KY. She graduated Valedictorian of her class at Rising Sun High School. Following graduation, she held positions and companies including 3M and Economics Laboratory. She was united in marriage to Audree Martin on April 17, 1954, in Rising Sun, IN. They lived in Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, and Iowa before retiring to Holiday Island, AR. They were married for 60 years and raised three children.

She was an avid volunteer for numerous organizations including Eureka Springs Hospital Guild and The Purple House. She was involved in the Christian Women’s Club and Holiday Island Community Church. She loved card games, college sports, travel, and spending time with family and friends.

Mary Lou thoroughly enjoyed her life everywhere she lived and made friends wherever she went. She made the most of all situations and when things got tough, she would simply say, “Onto the next thing”. Always trusting in her Lord Jesus Christ, she knew that all things were possible and that He would guide her through life.

Mary Lou is survived by her brother-in-law, Ted (Babs); her children: Anita, Abby, and Phil (Lori), and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Though we will miss her terribly, we take rest in knowing she is home. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Arkansas.
