Local man faces attempted murder charge

Posted

A Berryville man was arrested after a brief manhunt on Sunday, June 23, and was booked into the Carroll County Detention Center on charges including first-degree attempted murder.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Jacob Dollarhide also faces charges of aggravated assault, third-degree domestic battery, fleeing, endangering the welfare of a minor and failure to appear.

Dollarhide’s age was not available.

Berryville police chief Robert Bartos said the incident began with a reported domestic disturbance involving Dollarhide and a female at the Birchtree Acres apartment complex. When bystanders intervened, Dollarhide retrieved a .22-caliber rifle, Bartos said, and began shooting.

One man was hit in the arm, according to Bartos, who said Dollarhide ran from the scene and was quickly captured by law enforcement officers in a nearby field.

Bartos said the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office assisted in responding to the incident.

No further information was available at press time.
