Local basketball teams participate in Huntsville camp

Both the Berryville and Green Forest junior high boys basketball teams competed in the Huntsville Camp of Champs earlier this month and brought home several team and individual awards.

Berryville won the junior high and seventh/eighth grade tournament championships.

The Bobcats’ CT Hicks was named the junior high Most Valuable Player, while John Butler was the obstacle course champ, Carson McMellon was the free throw champ, Mason Zogleman was the outstanding rebounder and Bryce Smith was the hot shot champ.

In the seventh/eighth grade division, Dayton McKee was named the Outstanding Offensive Player and was runner-up in the obstacle course; Carson Compton received the Hustle Award and was runner-up in 1-on-1, hot shot, obstacle course and free throws; Braydon Bancroft was the hot shot and 1-on-1 champ and the outstanding rebounder; and Talon Whetham was named Most Improved.

For Green Forest, freshman Grady Massengale won the Coaches Choice Award, was 1-on-1 champion and runner- up in free throws and hot shot. Classmate Colin Atchison was named Offensive Player of the Week and was a finalist in the obstacle course and hot shot. Eighth-grader Briceton Henson was an obstacle course finalist and classmate Hadley Maybee was a free throw finalist.

Green Forest seventh-graders Cole Meador and Gavin Tharp were finalist in the obstacle course and free throws, respectively.
