Leota Kerns passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023. Leota was born to Frank and Myrtle Cox January 21, 1928, and shared that birth date with her twin sister, Leona. The twins were welcomed bybrother,Keithand sister,Eilene.

Leota graduated from Blue Eye High School in 1945 and married J.W. Kerns in March of 1946. Upon J.W.’s return from overseas where he served in the U.S. Army, they started their family with the birth of daughter Deanna, followed by a son, Jerry and daughter, Jana.

While raising the children, Leota began her professional career at White River Electric CO-OP in an administrative capacity utilizing her training obtained while attending Draughon Business College. She retired after 28 years of service and continued to utilize her administrative skills as a Pink Lady volunteer for Branson’s hospital and secretary on the city council of Blue Eye until her early 80s. Leota planted, raised and canned all kinds of garden goods. She loved crocheting and made afghans for her family. Shewasamemberofthe First Baptist Church – Blue Eye,participatinginchoirby singingandwhistlingpraises toGod.

She is survived by her children, Deanna Brixey (Darrell) Lebanon, Missouri; Jerry Kerns (Sandy) Blue Eye; Jana Blevins (Terry) Tyler, Texas. Grandchildren, Joy Mello, Kim Parton, Louden and Greyden Blevins, Terry Easley; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Leota is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings; J.W. and grandson, Randy Kerns.

Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
