Berryville Library Advisory Board President Joe Scott has announced the recent appointment of Jay Lee as the newest member of the Berryville Library Advisory Board.
Lee serves as administrative assistant for the City of Berryville and is responsible for the city’s day-to-day operations. He began this role in 1999. Lee moved to Berryville in 1989 and graduated from Berryville High School in 1996. Jay and his wife of 25 years, Janae, have five children: Grant, Alyssa, Aubrey, Addison and Harper.
Lee is very active in the community serving as a board member for Loaves and Fishes Food Bank and a member and past president of the Berryville Rotary Club. He also serves as an associate pastor of Grandview Baptist Church.
When asked what the library means in a community, Lee was quick to point out that a vibrant local library is an integral part of any community, especially in rural areas such as Berryville, and is a focal point for continued educational opportunities, social events, life skills training and children’s and adult’s activities and programs.
“I feel my work experience will offer good insight into the library’s building project and the fact my five children have been involved with several of the summer programs at the library over the years, I know firsthand the importance a library plays in the community and am pleased to serve on this board,” Lee said.
“We are fortunate to have someone with Jay’s knowledge and expertise serving on the library advisory board,” Scott said. “Each of our board members bring a level of expertise and insight to the table and we rely on them for their oversight of our library. They are our eyes and ears in the community” Scott added.
Other Berryville Library Advisory Board members include vice president Christy Graham, treasurer Tyler Squires, secretary Glenda Allison, Erick Diaz and Jan Scheel. Julie Hall serves as the library director.
