The Green Forest Lady Tigers lost to Kingston in the championship game of the 67th Annual Green Forest Holiday Tournament, sponsored by Anstaff Bank, but first-year coach Dylan Kilgore saw something to like despite the outcome.
“They didn’t quit,” Kilgore said of his team, which lost just 48-45 after trailing by as many as 15 points. “We played gritty. They held on to the rope and battled.”
Green Forest reached the championship game by defeating Lead Hill 54-19 in the first round and then getting past Omaha 48-39.
Junior McKensey Randolph scored 29 points in the win over Omaha with plenty of help from senior Gina Gonzalez, who had 10 assists.
On Friday, Dec. 8, the Lady Tigers beat School of the Ozarks 59-24.
Green Forest hosts Lincoln on Tuesday before traveling to West Fork on Friday.
