The Berryville Lady Bobcats got their first victory of the 2025 volleyball season on Monday, Sept. 8, and it came against some familiar faces.
Berryville defeated Green Forest 25-21, 2516, 25-10 at the Grim Gym in Green Forest.
The Lady Tigers are coached by Kristin Whetham, in her first season at Green Forest after several years as Berryville’s head coach. Three of the Lady Tigers players are former Berryville athletes as well.
“That was a very good win,” said Berryville coach Alley Edwards, who got her first victory with the Lady Bobcats. “The girls had a lot of fun. They got to play a lot of local people, of course. They were very fired up to get to play some of their old teammates and I think everybody had a really good time. We played very well that night.”
Berryville, which lost to Prairie Grove on Tuesday, Sept. 9, has three matches this week. The Lady Bobcats traveled to Cassville on Monday, Sept. 15. They’ll play at Huntsville on Tuesday, Sept. 16, before beginning the second half of conference play Thursday, Sept. 18, at Pea Ridge.
“I think things are starting to come together,” Edwards said. “The girls have not really gotten a lot of chances to play with a bunch of 10th graders, and we’re pretty young. So we’re still learning each other right now. We’re just trying to figure out how to put this next half of our conference together.”
Green Forest, which lost at Pea Ridge in three sets on Tuesday, Sept. 9, will host Gentry on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
