The Berryville Lady Bobcats came within a whisker of advancing to the 4A North regional volleyball tournament, losing to Pea Ridge in five sets in the first round of the 4A Northwest district tournament on Monday, Oct. 14, at Prairie Grove High School.
Despite that disappointment, though, Berryville coach Kristin Whetham said the Lady Bobcats accomplished something important this season.
“It does hurt,” Whetham said. “But like I told the girls, we came in with a goal, and that was to turn the program around. And we did that. We turned a corner. It wasn’t as far as we wanted to go, but we turned a corner and now it’s up to next year’s group to take it even farther.”
In the Lady Bobcats’ third match of the season against Pea Ridge, the Lady Blackhawks rallied to win 14-25, 25-18, 17-25, 25-23 and 15-9.
“In that fourth set, we led the entire way until the end,” Whetham said.
