Lady Bobcats play in districts

Posted

The Berryville Lady Bobcats faced an uphill climb as the 4A Northwest district volleyball tournament opened on Monday, Oct. 17, at Prairie Grove.

To qualify for next week’s Class 4A state tournament, Berryville needed to win twice on Monday and then pick up a third victory Tuesday.

But coach Kristin Whetham said her team was capable of advancing.

“Looking back at scores, we’ve been competitive in just about every ballgame,” Whetham said Friday, Oct. 14. “Most of our sets have been in the 20s.”

The Lady Bobcats finished 3-9 in conference play, closing out the regular season with losses at home to Gravette and on the road at Pea Ridge last week.

Individually, Whetham had praise for senior libero Mercy Leviticus and middles Kylee Campbell and Kynadee Hopper.

“Mercy has played exceptionally well,” Whetham said. “And Kylee and Kynadee have been hitting the ball hard.”
