Lady Bobcats lose two

The Berryville Lady Bobcats lost a pair of 4A-1 conference games last week.

The Lady Bobcats lost at Pea Ridge on Thursday, Jan. 11, in a game that was moved up a day because of impending inclement weather, then lost at home to Gravette on Saturday, Jan. 13 in a game that was rescheduled from Tuesday, Jan. 9.

PEA RIDGE 46, BERRYVILLE 25

Berryville fell behind by double digits at halftime and couldn’t catch up against Pea Ridge.

Sophomore Paige Thurman led the Lady Bobcats with seven points.

GRAVETTE 60, BERRYVILLE 38

The Lady Bobcats fought back from an early deficit to get within five points with less than two minutes remaining in the first half, but Gravette closed the half on a 7-0 run, then dominated the first few minutes of the third quarter on the way to a victory at Bobcat Arena.

After trailing 9-2, Berryville got a three-pointer from sophomore Tessa Johnson at the first-quarter buzzer to pull within four at 12-8. Gravette scored seven consecutive points to start the second quarter before Berryville sophomores Kaylyn Smith and Paige Thurman drove the lane for back-toback baskets to pull the Lady Bobcats within seven at 19-12.

Junior Kynadee Hopper’s baseline drive kept the Lady Bobcats within seven, but Gravette answered with a three-pointer to make it 24-14.

Thurman, Hopper and sophomore Hailey Howerton scored eight points apiece for Berryville, with Smith adding seven.
