Lady Bobcats hope to gain momentum

Posted

The Berryville Lady Bobcats dropped a pair of conference games last week after sweeping Green Forest in a nonconference matchup to start the week.

After topping the Lady Tigers 25-16, 25-16, 25-14 on Monday, Sept. 19, the Lady Bobcats lost to Ozark and Shiloh Christian in three sets each on Sept. 20 and 22, respectively.

Coach Kristin Whetham said the Lady Bobcats have struggled without senior libero Mercy Leviticus, who’s been out under concussion protocol.

“Not having our libero is hurting us right now,” Whetham said after the loss to Shiloh. “That’s a tough, tough spot for someone to be put in if you don’t work on it every day. Hannah Youngblood is doing a fabulous job but that’s just a hard spot.”

Against Green Forest and Ozark, senior Tatiana Emerson had 21 kills and four aces, while sophomore Kynadee Hopper had 14 kills and three aces, senior Mia Thurman had 41 assists and Youngblood had 23 digs.

Whetham said Leviticus was expected to return to the starting lineup on Monday, Sept. 26, when the Lady Bobcats travel to Blue Eye. Berryville will play at Clarksville on Tuesday before hosting Gentry onThursday.
