Any coach will tell you, they’d like their team to hit its peak headed into the postseason.
Heading into Monday night’s home match against Pea Ridge, the Berryville Lady Bobcats were right on time.
The Lady Bobcats notched their third consecutive victory on Monday, Oct. 2, topping Huntsville in five sets. A three-set loss the following night to a talented Farmington squad notwithstanding, Berryville coach Kristin Whetham said her team is starting to put it together with the district tournament starting next week at Huntsville.
With a team composed mostly of sophomores, Whetham said it took a while for the Lady Bobcats to gain confidence.
“These sophomores, as junior high girls they were very confident,” she said. “I think once they got up to high school, they lost a little bit of that, playing against older girls.”
Now, though, Berryville has settled in.
“We kind of went through a little bit of a roller coaster at the beginning of the year,” Whetham said. “But coming into the second half of the season, winning three in a row was big. We’re playing better. We’re trusting each other more offensively and defensively.”
Berryville will close the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 10, traveling to Gravette.
