The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville is home to the National Public Radio affiliate KUAF. Besides national and local news, music and entertainment programming the station also produces a daily one-hour show called 'Ozarks At Large.’ The program is hosted by KUAF news director Kyle Kellams and explores the eclectic variety of happenings in the region.
Piquing Kellams' interest last week was the recent change in ownership of the Carroll County News, in particular that the ownership team is now 100 percent local, with a combined Carroll County residency of more 60 years.
In the interview on Wednesday, Jan. 18, CCN editor and publisher Scott Loftis explained that he, Steve Johnson and David Bell formed a partnership named Carroll County Community Media to purchase the newspaper.
Kellams asked how the Carroll County News might change under its new owners, and how they plan to keep the paper relevant in an era when many weekly newspapers are closing. He also asked about other projects and special publications the new owners have in the works.
The interview aired Monday, Jan. 24, on “Ozarks at Large.” It can be heard online at kuaf.com.
