Killingsworth, Smith win district titles

Berryville freshman Kai Killingsworth won the girls 3,200-meter run and sophomore Kaylyn Smith won the girls triple jump at the 4A-1 district track and field championships on Tuesday, April 23, at Pea Ridge High School.

Killingsworth won the 3,200 in a time of 13:10.02. Smith’s leap of 33 feet, 10 inches took first place in the triple jump.

Kaylyn Smith finished second in the 400-meter run.

Another Berryville freshman, Kinly Smith, finished second in the shot put and 10th in the discus.

The Lady Bobcats’ Bella Knapp was sixth in the 800-meter run while Laykin Talley finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles.

On the boys side, Berryville’s Malachi Houghton finished sixth in the 1,600-meter run, one spot ahead of teammate Carson Mc-Mellon. Houghton was seventh and McMellon finished 10th in the 3,200.

The Bobcats’ Oliver Beamis took seventh place in the 110-meter.

The Class 4A state track and field championships will be held Tuesday, April 30, in Pocahontas.
