Green Forest relied on its running game to control the tempo, then used its passing game to provide points in a 14-0 victory at Cedarville in junior high football action on Thursday, Sept. 14.
The Junior Tigers controlled the ball for the entire first quarter .
“Last year we were a quickstrike team that could put up a lot of points,” coach Daniel Fitts said. “This year, we are are a team that can run the ball between the tackles. So our games will probably be low-scoring but controlling the time of possession.”
That doesn’t mean Green Forest can’t strike quickly on occasion, as it demonstrated against Cedarville with a 65-yard touchdown pass from Jace Meador to Radon Lawrence and a 20-yard TD toss from Hadley Maybee to Hayden Hatman.
Fitts praised the work of fullback Chris Vasquez. Defensively, Fitts said Green Forest was led by Axton Palmer, Isaac Reyes, Radon Lawrence and Jayce Lawrence.
Green Forest will play Thursday at Lincoln. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
