James Owen Gatlin, aged 73, died in his home surrounded by his loved ones on May 29, 2023.
James was born on January 30th, 1950 in Harrison, AR to Ruby and George (Doc) Gatlin. He attended Alpena High School and completed some college courses. James married Sharon Franks on January 8th, 1970. He served in the US Army in Vietnam. Afterwards, James worked as a manager for the Food For Less grocery store in Berryville, AR.
James accepted Jesus as His Lord and Savior in 1998 and loved God. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, fixing cars, and spending time with his family. He was a beloved husband and an incredibly strong father to Sandee and Kristie Gatlin. He was also a proud Papa to his three granddaughters, Abby Johnson, Ella Miller, and Julia Miller. James Gatlin was the best. He was the best husband, the best Daddy, and the best Papa - ever. James is preceded in death by his parents, George S. Gatlin and Ruby L. Gatlin; his brother, Paul Allen Gatlin, and his sister, Deborah Lynn King. James is survived by his wife, Sharon Gatlin and his two daughters, Sandra Gatlin and Kristie Miller; by his son-in-law, Benjamin Miller, and by his three granddaughters, Abby Johnson, Ella Miller, and Julia Miller. He is also survived by his God-daughter, Casey Gatlin; his God-son, James Gatlin. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Lenetta Wilson, and his three brothers George S. Gatlin Jr., Johnny Ray Gatlin, and David Lee Gatlin.
