James Bruce Currie of Holiday Island, Arkansas was born September 15, 1952, in El Paso, Texas to Robert P. and Helen L. (Bell) Currie. James passed away January 24, 2024, in his home at Holiday Island at the age of 71.
James “Jim” was an accomplished artist with an eye for creativity. Jim owned and created custom car interiors and paint for 24 years at St. Louis’s 1st Custom Van Shop – The Van Attic Inc. He was a master carpenter in Local 5 carpenters union. Jim’s real passion always remained playing his original music on his Gibson guitars whether in his band Mayhem or just hanging with fellow musicians. Mayhem is featured on stlpunkarchive. omeka.net. He was also a frequent to Chelsea’s open mic night in Eureka Springs. Jim shared this love of music with his family and friends and was overjoyed at every opportunity to teach a loved one a new instrument. Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon Currie; a son, Christopher Currie and his wife Michelle; a daughter, Jennifer Fritts and her husband Alex; as well as his seven grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Makena, Owen, Nora, Wren, and Iris. A dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
