Holiday activities, services planned across county

Churches and other groups in Carroll County will be hosting and participating in several events to celebrate the Easter holiday.

Many area churches will be participating in the “Celebrate Jesus Parade,” which will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, in downtown Eureka Springs.

There will also be a sunrise Easter service at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 9, at the Christ of the Ozarks statue on the grounds of the Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs.

Special events being held by area churches for Easter include:

ALPENA

• Osage Baptist Church, 16475 Highway 103 South, will host a sunrise service at 7 a.m. Sunday followed by a breakfast, Sunday School and Easter worship service. An Easter egg hunt for kids will take place following the worship service.

BERRYVILLE

• First Assembly of God, 907 S. Main St., will host a “Christ is Risen” service at 11 a.m. Sunday and will have a photographer on site in the east foyer to take Easter photos.

• Freeman Heights Baptist Church, 522 W. Freeman Ave., will hold a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 7, an Easter morning brunch at 9:30 a.m. and a “Celebration Service” at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

• Grandview Baptist Church, 1001 Arkansas Highway 143, will have an Easter egg hunt for kids after Sunday’s worship service.

• St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 614 S. Main St., will have a “Holy Thursday” service at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 6, a Good Friday service at 5 p.m. Friday, April 7, and an “Easter Vigil” at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 8. On Sunday, the church will hold an Easter service at 11 a.m. in English and at 1 p.m. in Spanish. An Easter egg hunt will also be held on Sunday after masses.

• First Christian Church/Disciples of Christ, 306 E. Church St., will have a Good Friday service at 6 p.m. Friday, April 7.

• Berryville United Methodist Church, 400 Eureka Ave., will hold a “Holy Thursday” service at 6 p.m. April 6 and will have Easter Sunday services at 8:30 a.m. and 10:50 a.m. on April 9.

• New Life Church Berryville, 32 Wilson Drive, will have an Easter program at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 9 and a “Candy Rain” event for kids after the service.

• Towering Oaks Church, 1159 Highway 62, will host its annual Easter “Egg Hunt and Puppets” event at 6 p.m. Friday, April. 7, which will include an egg hunt, songs, puppets and more.

• Boyd Church of God, 764 County Road 436, will host a “Friend and Family Day” for Easter, including a 10:30 a.m. worship service followed by an egg hunt. Lunch will also be provided.

BLUE EYE/OAK GROVE

• First Baptist Church Blue Eye, 14600 Arkansas 21 North in Oak Grove, will host a “Lord’s Supper Service” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 7 followed by a “Resurrection Sunday” service Sunday, April 9.

• The Harvest, 9866 Highway 21 North in Oak Grove, will hold an Easter egg hunt for children up to age 12 at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 8.

EUREKA SPRINGS

• First United Methodist Church, 195 Huntsville Road, will host a “Maundy Thursday” service and communion at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 6, and a Good Friday service at 6 p.m. Friday, April 7. The church will also conduct an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. before hosting a regular Easter service at 10 a.m.

• Valley View Baptist Church, 6413 Highway 62 West, will have a “Maundy Thursday” service at 7 p.m. April 6 and a special Easter Sunday concert with Kenny Goodman at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 9, followed by a 12:30 p.m. Easter egg hunt on church grounds.

• St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 30 Crescent Drive, will host “Holy Thursday” mass at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 6 at the Parish Center, 232 Passion Play Road. On Good Friday, April 7, “Stations of the Cross” and Good Friday service will be at 12:15 p.m. at the historic church on Crescent Drive. The church will participate in an Easter Sunday Vigil at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Berryville before holding an Easter Sunday mass at 8:30 a.m. April 9 at the historic church on Crescent Drive.

• Faith Christian Family Church, 157 Huntsville Road, will have an Easter egg hunt, including a bounce house, after its 10 a.m. Easter service.

• Eureka Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 17 Elk Street, will have an 11 a.m. service on Sunday, April 9 where David Kahn will will share the history and origin of Ramadan and how it is practiced in the United States, followed by an Easter potluck.

GREEN FOREST

• Green Forest Assembly of God, 673 Highway 103 North, will host an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8.

• Green Forest Cowboy Church, 687 Highway 103 North, will have an Easter egg hunt after its 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday, April 9.

HOLIDAY ISLAND

• Holiday Island Presbyterian Church, 111 Valley Drive, will have a “Maundy Thursday” service and communion at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 6, and a Good Friday service at 4 p.m. Friday, April 7. The church will host its Easter Sunday worship service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 9, followed by an Easter brunch at 10:30 a.m.
