Chad Hipps will continue as president of the Berryville School District Board of Education after a 5-0 vote during the board’s regular meeting on June 20.
In addition, Kristi Howerton was elected vice president and Lind Winkle was elected secretary.
The board officers were elected without board members LeeAnn Ashford and Jeff Tanksley, who were absent from the meeting.
The board also approved the purchase of two bassoons for the band department using funds the school received through the American Rescue Plan’s Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund.
The board voted to accept a bid from Floyd’s Construction for the high school pavilion.
In other business, the board approved a fundraiser request from Mindy Hicks for Bright Futures Drives to meet students’ needs, and an out-of-state travel request from Christy Skelton, who is planning to take agriculture students and FFA members to Lamb Camp in Idabel, Okla.
After meeting in executive session, the board reconvened to vote on several personnel matters, including accepting the resignations of Jerry Magee and Richard Mark Pepple as bus drivers, Jamie Nunez, Scott Bolton and Kaylee Parton as special education paraprofessionals and Betty Smith as migrant clerk.
Also resigning were elementary teachers Amanda Williams and Tasha Hutchison, intermediate teachers Angelia Mueller and Auston Crow, middle school teacher Brenda Floyd, high school teacher Nicole McElhaney and high school special education teachers Jerry Magee and Andy Sinay.
The board approved the transfers of Jannea Howze-Chaney from K-5 ALE paraprofessional to K-2 special education paraprofessional, Brittany Williams from high school special education paraprofessional to intermediate paraprofessional, Clara Tittsworth from intermediate paraprofessional to high school/middle school support staff, Anna Summers from migrant paraprofessional to migrant clerk, Rita Henson from middle school custodian to high school custodian and Scott Brown-Tesch from intermediate custodian to middle school custodian, Yolanda Cash from elementary special education to classroom teacher, April Noel from elementary special education to classroom teacher, Tracy Holle from ALE to elementary classroom teacher, Michelle Knapp from second grade to first grade, Abby Brown from fifth grade to third grade, Rachel Harlan from fifth grade to middle school, Madison Tvrz from middle school to high school and Chandra Davis from middle school to high school.
New hires for the district were Alejandra Hernandez as a purchase service employee, Autumn Blodgett as a dyslexia paraprofessional, Yuliana Gomez and Maya Lechtenberger as special education paraprofessionals, Johnna O’Gorek as a distance learning paraprofessional, and Dan Wallace, in addition to Emily Gregory, Ella McMellon, Alexis Meza and Unique Dunkin, who were hired as summer custodial workers.
Other approved hires were Jessica Brock as elementary music teacher, Cynthia Finstrom as elementary special education teacher, Becky Morse as intermediate special education teacher, Pamela Forga as intermediate counselor, Mallory Watkins as intermediate teacher, Adam Brannon as middle school teacher and coach, Bradi Kegley as middle school teacher, Donna Garlington as middle school teacher, Sylvia Shomshor as high school teacher, Angel Ramos as high school teacher, Candace Curtis as senior high cheer coach, and Jonathon Wood as cross country coach and assistant girls track coach.
