The Green Forest Tigers fell behind early last Friday against Ozark and things got out of hand in what turned into a 42-14 loss.
The bright side, however, is that Green Forest rallied for a pair of second-half touchdowns after trailing 14-0 at halftime.
“They’re a really good football team,” Green Forest coach Greg Tibbitt said of Ozark. “Their offensive line is one of the best I’ve seen. We kind of got behind the 8-ball. It was 14-0 and then we kind of put a little drive together and we had a fumbled handoff that put us behind the sticks and we just never really recovered.”
Green Forest got second-half touchdown runs from Ridge Gordon Swofford and Joel Salgado, and Salgado also ran for a twopoint conversion.
“We challenged ‘em at halftime to win the second half. Granted, it’s against some of their backups but our kids played well the second half.”
Green Forest (1-4, 0-2 4A-1) will be on the road this Friday to face unbeaten Gentry (5-0, 2-0).
“They’re number one in the conference right now,” Tibbitt said. “Probably their best season they’ve had in a while. Once again, another good football team I’ve said this over the last year, it’s all about us right now. We’re really struggling in a lot of areas, not just schematically, but just kind of playing flat and things like that. So it’ll be about us again Friday night.”
