Green Forest’s girls turned in a dominant showing Thursday, April 2, piling up multiple top-five finishes — including a first-place effort — at the Lincoln High School Wolfpack Relays.
Kaylyn Smith led the way for the Lady Tigers, winning the triple jump with a mark of 33 feet. Smith also added a pair of third-place finishes on the track, taking third in both the 200-meter dash (28.59 seconds) and the 400-meter dash (1:08.56).
Green Forest’s distance runners also delivered strong performances. Emily Sales placed third in the 3200-meter run (16:31.04) and fourth in the 1600 (7:19.69), while teammate Lorena Ortega finished fourth in the 3200 (19:28.43) and fifth in the 1600 (9:21.64), giving the Lady Tigers four top-five finishes in distance events alone.
In the field events, Mariana Ortega added a third-place finish in the discus with a throw of 76-7.75.
Eureka Springs also produced a standout performance in the distance races, as Anna Vaverka finished second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:57.77.
On the boys side, Green Forest’s Andrix Ryan recorded a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (52.72), while the Tigers’ 4x400-meter relay team also placed fifth with a time of 4:33.72.
Grady Massengale contributed a pair of top-five finishes in the field events, taking fourth in the discus (117-0) and fifth in the high jump (5-2).
Franklin Lopez narrowly missed a top-five finish in the 3200-meter run, placing sixth.
