A Green Forest man has been charged with rape after being arrested Oct. 3.
Michael TurnerGreen Forest police arrested Michael Franklin Turner, 41, after a woman with whom Turner had been living reported that he sexually assaulted her on Sunday, Oct. 3, according to a probable cause affidavit written by Lt. Allen Phillips.
The woman told police that she had asked Turner, whom she described as her ex-boyfriend, to leave the residence before he attempted to have anal sex with her, according to the affidavit.
An officer accompanied the alleged victim to NorthArkansas Medical Center in Harrison, where a sexual assault kit was collected along with c lothing from the alleged victim, the affidavit says.
Police interviewed Turner on Sunday, Oct. 2, according to the affidavit, and collected a cup and straw that Turner had brought with him and discarded in a trash can at the police department.
The following day, police asked Turner to come to the police department for a second interview, the affidavit says, and Turner said the alleged victim agreed to have sex but then changed her mind and yelled at Turner to “get off me.”
Turner was later placed into custody, according to the affidavit, and transported to the Carroll County Detention Center in Berryville.
Turner appeared before Carroll County District Judge Dale Ramsey on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Ramsey found probable cause to charge Turner with rape and set bond at $50,000.
Ramsey ordered Turner to have no contact with the alleged victim and to appear in Carroll County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
