Green Forest man arrested after shooting

Posted

A Green Forest man is being held in the Carroll County Detention Center on charges including attempted murder after another man was shot multiple times, according to Carroll County Sheriff Daniel Klatt.

In a news release, Klatt said dispatchers at the sheriff’s office received a call of a shooting and structure fire on Tuesday, Nov. 25, in the 4000 block of Carroll County Road 830.

Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene, along with firefighters and emergency medical personnel. When deputies arrived, they made contact with the shooting victim, 33-year-old Ian Moran.

Moran had been shot multiple times and was being treated for his wounds by EMS, according to Klatt’s news release. At the same time, fire crews were working on the structure fire across the street.

While Moran was being treated, he told deputies multiple times that he was shot by John Tallent. Moran was later transported to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison and then transferred to Mercy hospital in Springfield, where he initially was listed in critical condition after surgery. A source said Moran’s condition had improved by Monday, Dec. 1.

Deputies were able to locate and arrest Tallent, 39, without incident on an arrest warrant for attempted murder in the first degree and battery in the first-degree. His bond was set at $750,000.

Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues, Klatt’s news release said.
