Green Forest girls make one goal hold up to beat Berryville

Posted

A single goal made the difference on Monday, March 13, as the Green Forest Lady Tigers defeated the Berryville Lady Bobcats 1-0 at the Berryville Sports Complex.

Kayla Lozano scored the game winner for the Lady Tigers in the matchup of Carroll County rivals.

“It was a great goal,” Berryville coach Aaron Hall said. “Our keeper got her hands on it. They put it in the upper part of the goal and she got her hands on it but just couldn’t get quite enough and it sneaks in.”

Hall said Berryville had plenty of opportunities to score but could never take advantage.

“We had opportunities and we couldn’t get one to go in,” Hall said.

Green Forest coach Ashley Wilson said the game helped prepare the Lady Tigers for their conference opener two nights later against Lincoln — a 2-0 Green Forest victory.

Wilson said the Lady Tigers played well in the victory over Lincoln. Kateryn Calderon and Stephanie Lopez provided the scoring for Green Forest.

“I feel like we’re really coming together with figuring out position and spacing,” she said. “And passing. That’s what was really great — we made a lot of passes. We’ve still got to work on it, but it’s finally starting to come together.”
