The Annual Green Forest High School Alumni Banquet was held Saturday, April 8. Green Forest Alumni gathered with former classmates and other graduates to share memories about their time in school there. It was a great time that celebrated how graduates could come back to Green Forest and see all the exciting changes going on right now with the school and each other.
The honored Classes of 1973 and the Class of 1997 were featured during the event. A ham dinner sponsored by Tyson Foods and prepared by the Green Forest school cafeteria staff was enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
A short program included presenting the Outstanding Alumni Award and awarding a few scholarships followed the meal.
The Outstanding Alumni Award for 2023 was presented to Randy Usrey (Class of 1968) for his continued support of the school throughout his life and his many contributions to the community.
Two $500 scholarships were presented to Green Forest High School seniors Jason Lopez and Hali Coley.
The organizers of the Alumni Banquet hope to see more alumni attend the event next year. Attendance has dropped over the last couple of years because many alumni have passed away or failed to show up. It has been a very important event to the school for more than 60 years.
