Grandma’s House encourages residents to recognize, report signs of child abuse

Posted

Grandma’s House Children’s Advocacy Center is recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and encouraging residents to learn the signs of abuse and report suspected cases.

The organization, which serves multiple counties including Carroll County, assisted 425 child abuse victims in 2025, according to executive director Michelle Steiner.

Officials say many cases go unreported, noting that as many as 65 percent of children never disclose abuse.

Warning signs may include unexplained bruising, behavioral changes, fear of going home and changes in eating or sleeping patterns.

Suspected abuse can be reported by calling the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline at 1-844-SAVE-A-CHILD.
