Green Forest senior left-hander Mason Meador has always been an outstanding pitcher for the Tigers. Over his past two starts, he’s been almost untouchable.
Meador struck out a jaw-dropping 20 batters as Green Forest beat Berryville 8-1 on Thursday, April 17, at the Berryville Sports Complex.
Meador allowed one earned run on two hits, a walk and one hit batsman. He threw strikes on 76 of 103 pitches. Only two Berryville outs weren’t recorded on strikeouts, and one of those came when Meador picked a runner off second base.
In his previous start, Meador had struck out 15 of the 16 batters he faced in a five-inning no-hitter against Greenland on April 11.
Meador’s catcher is younger brother, Jace. Meador didn’t need much offensive support against Berryville, but he helped his own cause with a two-run triple that gave the Tigers a 5-0 lead in the top of the second.
Radon Lawrence had three hits, drove in three runs and scored one for Green Forest.
Berryville scored its only run in the bottom of the sixth when senior Cooper Summers hit a one-out double and scored on a triple by Colton Franklin with two out.
