A Green Forest School District teacher “has been relieved of all contractual obligations,” district superintendent Matt Summers confirmed Monday.
Social media posts last week alleged that the teacher had sent inappopriate messages to a student, but Summers declined to confirm those allegations or discuss further details of the situation.
Arkansas state law requires school officials to notify the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline established by the state Department of Human Services if they believe a child has been subject to sexual exploitation.
Green Forest police chief John Bailey could not be reached for comment om whether his department is investigating the matter.
The Green Forest school board’s next meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, in the high school library.
