A Green Forest man is free on bond after being arrested for allegedly raping a young girl in 2012.
Marco Antonio Figueroa Arana was arrested by Green Forest police on May 26. The arrest came nearly four months after a 17-year-old girl told an interviewer at the Grandma’s House Children’s Advocacy Center in Harrison that Arana raped her more than 20 times while she was in the second grade, according to a probable-cause affidavit written by Green Forest detective Allen Phillips.
The interview was conducted Jan. 31 and a state police investigator provided Phillips with a recording of the interview on Feb. 9, the affidavit says.
Phillips met with Arana on March 23, the affidavit says, and Arana denied having sexual contact with the girl or touching her inappropriately.
A bench warrant for Arana’s arrest was issued by the Carroll County circuit clerk’s office on May 26. Intake records indicate Arana was booked into the Carroll County Detention Center in Berryville later that day on a charge of rape of a minor by family or guardian.
Arana appeared before Carroll County district judge Dale Ramsey on May 27.
Ramsey found probable cause to charge Arana, set his bond at $500,000 and ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victim. Ramsey ordered Arana to appear in Carroll County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Monday, June 20, in Berryville. Jail records indicate Ara
