GF girls put up a fight

Posted

A good coach always looks for the positives in a loss. Green Forest girls soccer coach Ashley Wilson found a lot of them after the Lady Tigers’ 2-0 loss to Life Way Christian on Thursday, April 27.

“We played probably one of the best games that we have played, and we played together as a team,” Wilson said. “We fought really hard. We played with a lot of heart and hustle. … It felt like a win in a way, because we pieced a lot together. You could see the improvement.”

After reaching the Class 3A state tournament championship game in 2021 and the state semifinals last season, the Lady Tigers have a young but talented roster this season. Green Forest is second in the 3A West conference standings — behind Life Way Christian — heading into Tuesday’s Senior Night game against Thaden. A victory could gave the Lady Tigers a shot of momentum heading into next week’s Class 3A state tournament, hosted by Bergman.
