GF cleanup scheduled April 22

Posted

The city of Green Forest and the Carroll County Solid Waste District will pick up unwanted bulky waste, scrap material items and yard waste beginning at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22.

Items will be picked up early so residents are encouraged to place their items out the night before. Any item set out after 8 a.m. will not be picked up.

The pickup is for Green Forest residents only within city limits and does not include commercial or agricultural items or items brought in from other areas.

Residents are asked to place items in three separate piles — yard waste, bulky waste and scrap metal. Any item such as refrigerators and air conditioners that contain freon must have a tag showing that the freon has been properly recovered by a licensed heat or air service company.

Scrap metal items that will be accepted include hot water heaters, washers and dryers, dishwashers, bed springs (bare metal), lead acid batteries and cook stoves.

Yard waste accepted includes limbs and brush that are bundled and bagged leaves and grass.

Bulky waste items allowed include furniture, mattresses, box springs, yard debris and clothing or other textiles.

Items not accepted include tires, dead animals, infectious material, sludge or fallen materials, bulk liquids, semi-solids, highly flammable substances, pesticides, herbicides, poisons, raw animal manure, raw sewage, septic tank pumpings, explosives, waste oil, large quantities of ash, industrial byproducts and paints or solvents.

There will also be a container for electronics available from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church parking lot.
