The Green Forest Tigers found themselves behind the 8-ball early in their game at Gentry on Friday, Oct. 11.
The Pioneers scored on their first possession and then converted a Green Forest turnover into a second quick score for a 14-0 lead.
After that, however, Green Forest settled in defensively and held Gentry to 14 points the rest of the way in a 28-0 loss.
Green Forest coach Greg Tibbitt said the Tigers moved the ball offensively but couldn’t convert on scoring opportunities.
Meanwhile, Tibbitt praised the play of junior linebacker Jaden Kaler, who led the team in tackles.
On Friday, Green Forest hosts Lincoln on Homecoming night at Tiger Stadium. The Wolves, who defeated Green Forest 3029 last season in Lincoln, are 3-3 overall but winless at 0-3 in 4A-1 conference play. Lincoln in coming off a 58-0 home loss last week to Elkins. On Oct. 4, the Wolves lost at home to Gentry 35-28.
