Freeman Heights Baptist Church held its twenty-first annual AWANA Pinewood derby race on March 13th. There were many in attendance as the kids raced their home-made cars. The fellowship hall of the church was transformed into a raceway with car tires, banners, and race related props. Pre-kindergartners through 6th graders competed in the event as many more watched. Building a car is very rewarding whether going for the fastest car or for the best in design class, all kids were winners.
Those taking home trophies for TNT (3-6th grade) in speed were: 1st place – Charleigh Wynn, 2nd – Gunner McWilliam and 3rd – Logan McWilliam. For design the trophy recipients were: 1st place – tie between Gunner McWilliam & Logan McWilliam (brothers), 2nd – Hollis Shudy, and 3rd – Wyatt Burgess.
Those taking home trophies for Sparks (K-2nd grade) in speed were: 1st place – K.J. Stone, 2nd – Jakyn Jones, and 3rd – Grady Wynn, and the trophy recipients for design were: 1st place – Blair Ryan, 2nd – K.J. Stone, and 3rd – Jakyn Jones.
